A group
of travelers were making a cross-country journey by stagecoach. It had
been raining hard for days causing them to ford many swollen streams. The
Big River still remained ahead of them to be crossed. “If these small streams
have caused us so much trouble,” they said, “how will we ever cross the
Big River?” That night at an inn, they met a gentleman who had just came
from the direction of the river. “What is the state of Big River?” they
inquired. “I’ve crossed Big River many times,” the fellow replied, “but
one thing I never do -- I never cross Big River until I get there.”
Do you
have any Big Rivers in your life which loom like giants before you? Jesus
instructs us not worry about them when He said, “Take... no thought for
the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.
Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof” (Matthew 6:34).
