Forgotten Sorrow

 The ransomed of the LORD...
shall obtain joy... and sorrow...
shall flee away.

(Isaiah 35:10)

Quill     The Spanish author, Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (1547-1616) once supplemented his income by serving as a government official. While doing so, some government funds came up missing. Because he often handled large sums of money in his position, he was falsely accused and placed into prison. He did not allow this to trouble him. Now he could write in solitude and not have to worry about his meals and lodging. There, in what some might consider to be the depths of despair, Cervantes wrote his greatest novel. It is called Don Quixote. This classic has been a blessing to countless people and has long outlived the memory of Cervantes’ sorrows.
When people hurt you, do as Cervantes did. Don’t dwell on the hurt. Get busy and do something good for the glory of the Lord. You will discover that He will fill your heart with joy and your sorrows will gradually flee away and be forgotten.
