James John
Corbett (1866-1933), known as Gentleman Jim, became the first recognized
heavyweight champion under the Marquess of Queensberry (padded gloves)
rules, when in 1892 he knocked out John L. Sullivan in the 21st round of
a bout in New Orleans. When things were not going well for Jim during a
fight, he encouraged himself with the motto, ‘Fight One More Round.’
When the
battles of life have battered your soul and it’s hard to continue on, do
as one great fighter did and ‘fight one more round.’ When life seems meaningless
and living for Jesus doesn’t seem worth the effort, ‘fight one more round.’
You can
never tell how close you are to winning; so, keep plugging away and ‘fight
one more round.’ Your next blow may be the one that brings you the victory.
Winners
never quit and quitters never win.
