Sometime after the Civil War, Robert E. Lee was traveling through the South and visited a lady who showed him a large tree in her yard which had been greatly damaged by the Yankees. She expected Lee to sympathize with her and make some derogatory remark concerning the actions of the Federal troops. Instead he said, “Cut it down and forget it.”
Resentment and bitterness residing in a person’s heart will poison their every thought and action. Therefore, when thoughts of injustices performed against you attempt to gain control of your life, cut them down and forget them before they have an opportunity to grow into bitterness.
"Let all bitterness...and evil speaking be put away from you..." (Ephesians 4:31).
