One day a pastor stopped by for a visit with one of his parishioners. Upon asking them how they were, the parishioner replied, “OK under the circumstances.”
“I’m sorry to hear that you’re under the circumstances,” replied the parson. “God’s children are to arise and live above their circumstances. ‘For the Lord...shall lift you up (James 4:10).’”
When troubles press you down, be like the teakettle that continues to sing even though it’s up to its neck in hot water.
Your happiness is not a result of your circumstances and position in life, but rather your disposition.
It’s not the load you carry that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it.
