 A young girl received a toy glow-in-the-dark figurine from her father. Anxiously she waited for nightfall, at which time she went into her bedroom, picked up her new toy and turned off the light. To her dismay, the toy gave off very little light. Upon hearing of this, the girl's father read the instructions which said, "If you want me to shine in the dark, you must expose me to the light."
The same is true of the child of God. If we want our lives to glow in this spiritually dark world, we must spend some time in the light. Jesus is that light, for He hath said, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12).
