God says, "Have not I commanded thee." God's children are commanded to be of good courage. The dictionary defines courage as a person's ability to stand fast and conquer their fears and feelings of despair in the face of opposition and hardship. As ambassadors for Christ, we do not have the luxury of going about being discouraged and down-in-the-mouth. It is our duty to "be glad in the Lord... and shout for joy" (Psalms 32:11).
What a comfort it is to know that "the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." We may be "troubled on every side," but praise God, we don't have to be "distressed" (2 Cor. 4:8). For the Lord... is our help (Psalms 33:20). He comforteth us in all our tribulations (2 Cor. 1:4). Therefore, we can say with Paul, "I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all... tribulation” (2 Cor. 7:4).
