Chasing after happiness is like a puppy chasing its tail. The more chasing he does, the more he goes around in circles -- getting nowhere fast.
Happiness isn't something you chase after and find -- it's an attitude. It's the ability to enjoy yourself with what you have, although it may not be what you want. Nice things and pleasant circumstances alone do not constitute happiness. Happiness is not dependent upon external things, but the internal manner in which we deal with them. It’s not how much we have, but how much we enjoy what we have, that generates happiness.
“Better is an handful with quietness, than both hands full with travail and vexation of spirit,” (Ecclesiastes 4:6). Therefore, Seek not to add to your possessions but to subtract from your desires.
