A sculptor sees in every block of marble a statue waiting to be unveiled. Skillfully, he chips away at the unwanted portions until it is transformed into the desired image.
Likewise, our heavenly Father sees within each of us an image of Himself -- shrouded in carnality, needing to be unveiled. Just as the sculptor chips away the unwanted stone so as to reveal the image within; our heavenly Father gently chips away our carnal nature until we are transformed into a new person created in His likeness.
Let us therefore, "put off the old man with his deeds..." (Colossians 3:9); "and... put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness" (Ephesians 4:24).
