Think it not strange concerning
the fiery trial which is to try you,
as though some strange thing
happened unto you. 

     Steam is the energy generated by heating water to its boiling point. In the past, steam energy has been used to power large machinery such as the steam locomotive. There are two ingredients required to generate steam power. One is water and the other is heat. Water by itself is not enough. Heat must be applied.
     The same is true of the Christian's life. If we want to possess power to become a spiritual overcomer, we can expect to have some heat applied to our life. The complacent Christian's life is like a pool of water which left to itself will become stagnant. To prevent this from happening, God applies heat to our lives by allowing fiery trials to come our way and stir us from our inertness. Just as water expands and generates steam power when heated, the heat of our trials will cause us to expand and grow spiritually, thus generating spiritual power within to be a conqueror over the powers of darkness, in Jesus name.
