Like A Solitary Tree

No man stood with me... but
all... forsook me... Notwithstanding
the Lord stood with me...

(2 Timothy 4:16,17)

Trees     The American clipper ships of the mid 1800's were the fastest sailing ships ever built. The masts of these great ships were crafted only from the strongest wood. The best trees for this purpose were those that grew in open spaces, standing off to themselves. Such solitary trees stand alone and are not protected by other trees. Their very existence is proof of their strength and ability to withstand the fiercest of storms.
If we are to be strong and useful in the service of the Lord, we must be like the solitary tree and be willing to stand alone in our convictions for Jesus. Better to forsake the companionship of the world and stand alone with Jesus than to make compromises contrary to God's word.
Though others may criticize and forsake you because of your Godly standards, be encouraged in the knowledge that you are never alone. For Jesus said, "I am with you always" (Matt. 28:20).
