Bounce Back

 Love your enemies...

(Luke 6:27)

Basketball     The material we know today as rubber received its name in 1770 when an English chemist named Joseph Priestly discovered that it could be used to "rub" out graphite pencil marks. Because of its elastic properties, man has found many other uses for rubber since Priestly's time. Elasticity is what gives rubber its ability to quickly spring back to its original shape, without being deformed, when stretched or placed under pressure. For this reason a rubber ball can be repeatedly beat down against a hard surface and bounce back every time. It refuses to be stay down and be distorted by the way it is treated.
Just as a rubber ball refuses to be distorted by the harsh treatment it receives, we also must not allow the ill treatment we receive from others to get us down and deform us with hatred and bitterness. We must bounce back with love and, "be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good" (Romans 12:21).
