Bounty In The Cellar

 Times of refreshing shall come
from the...Lord.

(Acts 3:19)

Hager_House     Hager's Fancy is the name given to the house Jonathan Hager, the founder of Hagerstown, MD, built in 1740. The house was built over a cool spring of water so that the cellar could serve as a storehouse and place of refuge, providing fresh water and food, in case of an Indian attack.
Like this early American settler, the child of God may also find themselves under attack by our enemy, satan. Hence, we are forced to take refuge in God’s spiritual cellar where at first we may become discontented, because we do not like living away from the glamour of the upper rooms. But, God permits us to be driven down into His cellar, because it is there that the spring of living water flows most bountifully and offers us the best refreshment. Thus, the riches of God's storehouse are made available to our soul that we may eat and drink our fill and obtain relief from all distress.
