 Meteors are pieces of metallic or stony matter that travel from outer space into the earth's atmosphere. In the night sky, meteors become visible at about 65 miles above the earth. As a meteor makes its way to earth, it encounters a force of resistance called air-friction. At an altitude of 30 to 50 miles, this resistance becomes so great that it consumes and completely quenches a meteor out of existence.
Satan shoots his fiery darts at the saints of God like meteors from hell. But, if we "resist the devil" (James 4:7) with "the shield of faith" (Eph. 6:16a) we activate within us a powerful force of spiritual friction with which we shall "be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked" (Eph. 6:16b). Therefore, "have faith in God" (Mark 11:22) and "take unto you... the shield of faith" (Eph. 6:13,16).
