White light is a combination of the seven colors of the rainbow -- red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Each color has its own wavelength. Red light waves are the longest and violet light waves are the shortest. The shortest violet rays we can see are about sixteen-millionths of an inch long. Lightwaves of shorter lengths are invisible to the human eye and are classified as ultraviolet light. Even though ultraviolet light is invisible, it is still there and can effect us in many ways, one of which is it tans our bodies.
Jesus said, "I am the light of the world" (John 9:5) and like ultraviolet light, He is there for us even though we cannot see Him. "For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" (Hebrews 13:5).
