 Clams and mussels are small ocean dwellers which have soft bodies encased in a hard shell that opens in the middle. They are good for eating, but first their innermost parts must be cleaned. This can be accomplished by placing them in cold water with a handful of raw oatmeal. While feeding, on the oatmeal, they will expel all the filth from their innards.
When we, like clams feeding on oatmeal, feed on the milk of God's word it will expel the filth of the world from the inward parts of our heart and mind. In so doing, we become prepared for the greatest meal of all time -- "the marriage supper of the Lamb" (Rev.19:9).
