On Thursday November 8, 1900, twenty-two year old A.R. Nichols, a flagman for the Western Maryland Railroad, was assigned the task of flagging all westbound trains at a construction site for a new rail siding. Thinking there was no immediate danger, Nichols sat down on the end of a tie to rest. He is believed to have been half dozing when a fast moving train rounded a nearby curve and caught him unawares. Just as the train was almost upon him, he jumped to his feet and was fatally struck.
Just as young Nichols no doubt thought he had plenty of time to live, many a young person is fooled by satan into believing they also have plenty of time to live and make things right with their creator, Jehovah God. Thus, they delay to "repent... and be converted, that (their) sins may be blotted out" (Acts 3:19). "Now... is the day of salvation" (2Co 6:2) not tomorrow for, as in Nichols' case, tomorrow may never come. Therefore, accept Jesus' invitation today to "come unto Me" (Mt 11:28) and "be born again" (Jn 3:7) "of the Spirit" (Jn 3:5).
