The African Rock Python is a large constricting snake which grows to an average length of 18-20 feet. These non-venomous creatures have no fangs. They kill their prey by squeezing it until it can no longer breath. Their diet ranges from small birds to larger prey such as pigs, monkeys, and deer. They do not chew their food, but rather swallow it whole -- head first. After a large meal, the python becomes weighted down and is vulnerable to attack by predators.
Like a python, vulnerable to attack after feeding on a large meal, we also become vulnerable to our predator, satan, when we feed our minds a meal of the wrong kind of thoughts. Wrong thoughts yield wrong actions. Let us therefore "bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" (2Cor 10:5) and "think on whatsoever things are pure and lovely" (Phi 4:8 Paraphrased). We can only think one thought at a time, so let's make it a good one.
