Pressure-treated lumber is wood that has been submerged in a liquid preservative and placed in a pressure chamber under great pressure. The pressure insures that the preservative chemicals will reach the wood fibers at the core of each piece of wood. The pressurized method is much more effective than just soaking the wood. Thus, in order for the wood to receive the preservative's maximum benefit, pressure must be applied.
At times, this world seems like a pressure chamber where we get pressure-treated whether we want to or not. The apostle Paul described one of his experiences like this: "Trouble... came to us (and) we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life" (2Co 1:8). But, he goes on to say, "the God of all comfort... comforteth us in all our tribulation" (2Co 1:3,4). Like Paul, you may feel pressed out of measure, but be assured God will comfort you and "make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it" (1Co 10:13).
