The "forward pass" was first used by St. Louis University's Brad Robinson, on September 5, 1906, during a football game against Carroll College. His first pass to teammate Jack Schneider was incomplete, but Robinson did not let that discourage him. He threw a second pass that was successful and went on to win a 22-0 victory over Carroll.
Life is a lot like a game of football. As we move towards our goals, we are often met with opposition and experience failed attempts to get ahead. But if we, like Brad Robinson, keep pitching and don't give up we will eventually experience a completed pass and go on to victory. When all seems lost, "be... of... good courage... for the Lord thy God is with thee..." (Josh 1:9. He "giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1Co 15:57).
