On Sunday, August 9, 1970, Flight 502 out of Cuzco, Peru had just become airborne when one engine quit working. Fearing the plane could not clear the 20,000 foot high mountain that lay ahead, the pilot requested permission from the control tower at Cuzco to abort the flight and return to the airport. His reply was to proceed forward. Allowing fear to control his thinking, he turned back anyway. In so doing, the plane struck the mountainside and crashed.
Like the pilot, perhaps you too are facing a difficult situation in which there seems to be no way out but to give up and turn back. If so, "fear not... (for) I will help thee, saith the Lord" (Isa 41:14). God has promised, "I will carry... you" (Isa 46:4) "and... keep thee" (Isa 42:6). "My kindness shall not depart from thee" (Isa 54:10). "I will... make a way" (Isa 43:19). Therefore, "be of good courage" (Ps 31:24) and "go forward" (Exo 14:15).
