Flood waters from the Black Sea have always been an enemy to the inhabitants of the Netherlands. The country's name, meaning "Lower-Lands," signifies that much of the nation lies below sea level. In order to protect themselves, Hollanders have gone into the business of flood control by building more than 10,000 miles of dikes, dams, dunes, and floodgates to hold back the sea.
Like the Hollanders, Jehovah God is also in the business of flood control. Isaiah 59:19 says, "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him." An enemy is anything or person intent on causing harm. A standard is a support. Therefore, be assured that should your life become flooded by harm of any kind, the Lord shall provide you with support and "deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies" (2Ki 17:39).
