Glaze is a glassy substance applied to ceramic items and fired in an oven to bond it to the object's surface. One of the earliest uses of glaze was to apply it to earthenware which has a porous nature making it unsuitable for holding water. The glaze not only seals the clay's pores, but it also strengthens the vessel and beautifies its appearance.
Like a protective covering of glaze on a piece of pottery, "the Lord... shall cover thee..." (Ps 91:2,4) and "be thy shield" (Ps 91:4). He "will give strength unto His people" (Ps 29:11) and "beautify the meek" (Ps 149:4). Therefore, as a piece of pottery hidden under a coating of glaze, make Jehovah God your "hiding place" (Ps 32:7). He shall "keep you as the apple of His eye and hide you under the shadow of His wings" (Ps 17:8 Paraphrased).
