The Great Blizzard of 1888 began on March 11th and continued for three days. George D. Baremore, a renowned New York City businessman, boasted to his employees that the storm did not scare him. Afterwards, he began walking home. Some days later he was found dead beneath a snowdrift just one block from his home. He almost made it safely home, but almost was not good enough.
Jesus said "in my Father's house are many mansions...I go to prepare a place for you" (Jn 14:2). "An house...eternal in the heavens" (2Co 5:1). If we are to safely reach that home we must get to know its builder, Jesus Christ. King Agrippa almost got to know Him when he told the Apostle Paul "almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian" (Acts 26:28). Like Baremore, he almost made it. Let us not make the same mistake, but rather let us "walk...with...God" (Mic 6:8) and allow Him lead to us safely home to that heavenly "city...whose builder and maker is God" (Heb 11:9).
