 On August 28, 2003, Brian Wells (1956-2003) entered a bank and demanded $250,000. Upon exiting the bank, he was apprehended by police who had been alerted to the robbery. Franticly Wells proclaimed his innocence. He informed the police that he had a bomb locked to his neck and was forced to commit the robbery. With only 20 minutes before the bomb was set to detonate -- the bomb squad arrived too late to save Wells. A woman who witnessed the explosion and Well's death lamented, "Nobody will know if he was a good guy or a bad guy."
Man's courts often struggle to prove the guilt or innocence of a person like Wells, but not so with Jehovah God. He knows if we are naughty or nice. For "the Lord knoweth the thoughts of man" (Ps 94:11) and "His eye seeth every... thing" (Job 28:10). Therefore, let us "walk circumspectly" (Eph 5:15) at all times, "for there is nothing... hid, that shall not be known" (Lk 12:2).
