In his younger years, Patrick Henry (1736-1799) made an attempt at storekeeping and farming. He was a failure at both; nevertheless he did not allow these setbacks to stop him. He went on to study law and became a successful attorney, the governor of Virginia, and a powerful orator. He is best remembered for his speech given on March 23, 1775 denouncing Britain's tyranny over the American colonies. He concluded his oratory by saying, "...give me liberty or give me death."
Like Patrick Henry, you also may have experienced a failure or two. If so, be like Henry and "go forward" (Ex 14:15). "Be of good courage" (Ps 31:24) for "thus saith the Lord... remember... not the former things (failures) ...because I will do a new thing... I will... make a way" (Isa 43:16,18,19). "I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee" (Josh 1:5). "I will give thee the... hidden riches of secret places" (Isa 45:3) and "thou shalt have good success" (Josh 1:8).
