 The San Francisco earthquake of April 18, 1906 took many lives and cost millions of dollars in damage. Due to its closeness to the San Andreas Fault, San Francisco is constantly in peril of another destructive quake. Nevertheless people continue to live in this danger zone, content to play a sort of "earthquake roulette." The motto of some is, "ignorance is bliss."
But "I would not have you ignorant" (Rm 1:13). For worse than any earthquake is another danger zone far beneath the San Andreas Fault "in the depths of hell" (Pr 9:18). A "place of torment" (Lk 16:28) where there is "no rest day nor night" (Rev 14:11). Yes, there is a horrible place called hell. For "the wicked shall be turned into hell" (Ps 9:17). Therefore do what it takes to "escape the damnation of hell" (Mt 23:33). "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ" (Act 16:31a) and "serve Him in truth with all your heart" (1Sa 12:24) "and thou shalt be saved" (Act 16:31b).
