Not A Failure

 Be of good courage...
(Psalm 27:14)

On November 18, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) traveled by train from Washington, DC to Gettysburg, PA. The next day, in less than three minutes, he gave a brief ten sentence speech at the dedication of the Gettysburg Cemetery. The subdued applause that followed caused Lincoln to later comment, "That speech was a flat failure." Little did he realize, at the time, that his "Gettysburg Address" would be regarded as his finest speech.
Perhaps you, like Lincoln, have put your best into something only to feel like a failure. As Lincoln was incorrect in thinking he was a failure, you may also be mistaken to feel that you are a failure. Rather than relying upon your feelings, "trust in the Lord... and lean not unto thine own understanding"
(Pro 3:5). For "blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord... he shall be as a tree planted by the waters" (Jer 17:7,8). "Whatsoever he doeth shall prosper" (Ps 1:3).
