On November 10, 1923 Hachiko (1923-1935), an Akita Inu breed of dog, was born on a farm in northern Japan. Two months later Dr. Eizaburo Ueno (1871-1925), a professor who worked for the Tokyo University, adopted Hachiko. While still a pup, Hachiko would walk to the train station each morning to see his master off to work. In the evening, he would again be there to greet his master. This continued until one day in May 1925 when, after seeing his master off to work, Dr. Ueno suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and died while at the university. For the next nine years Hachiko went to the train station each morning and evening. Enduring all kinds of inclement weather, he faithfully waited and watched for his good master's return.
Like Hachiko, let us also "endure all things" (2Ti 2:10) and "wait patiently" (Ps 37:7) -- "looking for... the glorious appearing of... Jesus Christ" (Tit 2:13) our "Good Master" (Mt 19:16). For "there is laid up... a crown of righteousness... unto all... that love His appearing" (2Ti 4:8).
