During the War of 1812 two sisters, Rebecca and Abigail Bates, put to flight the British navy. In September of 1814, as a raiding party from a British warship was nearing the shore off the coast of Scituate, Massachusetts, the girls began playing the American military song Yankee Doodle on a drum and fife. Thinking the colonial home guard were nearby, the British retreated to their ship and sailed away. The Bates sisters' courageous act earned them the title "The Army of Two."
As the Bates sisters had put their enemy, the British, to flight; the children of Jehovah God can likewise put their enemy, satan, to flight. "Your adversary the devil" (1Pe 5:8) "hath desired to have you, that he may sift" (Lk 22:31) "kill and... destroy" (Jn 10:10) you. "Therefore... stand fast in the Lord" (Phi 4:1) and "resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (Jam 4:7). For "greater is He (Jesus) that is in you, than he (satan) that is in the world" (1Jo 4:4).
