The "Little Ships of Dunkirk" consisted of 700 privately owned small boats that sailed from England to Dunkirk, France from May 26 to June 4, 1940 as part of Operation Dynamo. They were used to help rescue 338,000 British and French soldiers trapped on the beach by the advancing German army. Shallow water prevented larger British destroyers from coming close to shore. The little ships were needed to shuttle the troops from the beach to the larger warships. The success of the mission would have been impossible without them.
Should you ever feel small and unimportant to God, remember the "Little Ships." It was their smallness that made them useful. If Jesus could use "a few small fishes" (Mk 8:7) to feed 4,000 people, He certainly can use little ole you.
