 During the Second World War, there was a shortage of eggs caused by food rationing. To alleviate the problem, people began raising their own chickens and harvesting the eggs. Since refrigeration was not readily available to many, a new challenge presented itself -- how to preserve the abundance of eggs? The answer was a white powder called Water-Glass. When mixed with water, it is used to seal the pores in concrete. It can also be used to seal the pores in an egg’s shell. Thus the bacteria which causes an egg to spoil is sealed out and the egg’s freshness is sealed in. This process can be used to preserve eggs for up to five months.
Like water-glass, God is also our preserver. To preserve means to protect. Thus God is our protector. He “shall deliver (us) from every evil work, and preserve (us)…” (2Tim 4:18) “...from all evil” (Ps 121:7).
