Fret not thyself because of him who prospereth...
(Psalm 37:7)

     In 1913, sixteen year old John Fredson (1895-1945) joined the Hudson Stuck expedition with hopes of being among the first to climb North America’s highest peak, Mt. McKinley (also known as Denali). As it turned out, while the older men made the climb, young Johnny was left behind. Instead of being chosen to go up higher, he was assigned the mundane task of looking after the base camp.
     Perhaps you, like young Johnny, have also been disappointed and left behind while others move up in the world. If so, “fret not thyself” (Ps 37:1) but “rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him” (Ps 37:7). In due time, “He shall exalt thee… (Ps 37:34). For “promotion cometh... from... God” (Ps 75:6,7). The day is coming when “the last shall be first, and the first shall be last” (Mt 20:16). Therefore “wait on the Lord and be of good courage” (Ps 27:14).
