As
a youngster, Will Keith Kellogg (1860-1951) was a
poor student due to bad eyesight. At age 14, he left
school and became a broom salesman. By age 20, he
was working for his older brother, Dr. John Harvey
Kellogg, at the Battle Creek Sanitarium. John called
Will a "loafer" and paid him poorly. Will was
assigned the task of inventing a healthy breakfast
food for the sanitarium's patients. In so doing, he
discovered how to make corn flakes. Realizing its
value, Will wanted the sanitarium to sell the cereal
commercially, but John objected. In 1906, at the age
of 45, Will broke away from his brother and started
the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company. By
1912, he was a millionaire. A decade later, the
Kellogg Company had become the leader in the
breakfast food industry.
Just as Will Kellogg was a late bloomer in
life, you also may be late getting started on the
road to success. If so, don't give up. Take God as
your partner in life. "Trust in Him at all times" (Ps 62:8).
"So shall ye be established… and prosper.
(2Ch 20:20).
