On December 13, 1931, Winston Churchill (1874-1965) was visiting New York City. Forgetting that in the United States people drive on the right side of the road instead of the left as they do in his native homeland of England, Churchill stepped onto a busy street and was struck almost fatally by an automobile. He was admitted to a nearby hospital with a serious head injury and two cracked ribs. Nearly fourteen months later on February 15, 1933, United States president-elect, Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945), had just finished giving a speech in Florida when someone in the crowd fired five shots at him. Fortunately, all the shots missed him.
One can only imagine the outcome of World War II had either of these men met with an early demise. Just as they made a difference for good by helping to keep the free-world free during WWII (1939-1945), your life can also make a difference for good. You are just as important to God as they were. He likewise has a great work for you to do. Therefore fear not to do what God is calling you to do. For you "can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth you" (Philip 4:13).
