Small Deeds

 Thy work shall be rewarded...

(Jeremiah 31:16)

Farmer     In 1842, an ordinary farmhand named Henry Shoemaker met Madison Marsh while Marsh was campaigning for a seat in the Indiana state legislature. Shoemaker promised Marsh that he would vote for him. On election day Marsh won as a result of Shoemaker's tie-breaking vote. In 1843, as a member of the state legislature, Madison Marsh played a key role in getting his fellow party member, Edward A. Hannegan (1807-1859), selected as the newest Senator from Indiana. Three years later in 1846, Senator Hannegan provided the necessary vote needed to declare war with Mexico.
Should you ever feel your life is mundane and without purpose, remember Henry Shoemaker. Just as one of his ordinary deeds helped bring about a chain of extraordinary events, there is no telling what great accomplishments your ordinary life may produce. Therefore "be... of... good courage... for the Lord... is with thee"
(Josh 1:9). He has promised to "bless thee in all the work of thine hands" (Deu 24:19).
