In January 1994, Olympic hopeful figure skater, Nancy Kerrigan (B: 1969) was attacked at a Detroit ice rink just two days before the Olympic trials. Remembered as "the whack heard around the world," Nancy was struck on her landing knee with a police baton. Her attacker was hired by the ex-husband of one of Kerrigan's chief rivals, Tonya Harding. Seven weeks later, she rose above her adversity and did what many thought impossible. She skated in the Winter Olympics and won silver in the ladies' singles figure skating. Twenty years later when asked by the press to comment on her attack she said, "I’ve moved on. I don't revisit this on a daily basis."
Like Nancy, one would do well to move on and not look back upon their hurts and sorrows from the past. It's best to "look up" (Lk 21:28) and "go forward" (Ex 14:15). "Look not behind thee" (Gen 19:17) "lest any root of bitterness spring up and trouble you" (Heb 12:15 Paraphrase).
