Don't Look Back

Forget those things which are behind...

(Philippians 3:13)

Miracle Mile Race     Located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada is a bronze statue commemorating the famed "Miracle Mile" race which took place there on August 7, 1954. The statue was inspired by the world's two fastest runners at the time, Roger Bannister (1929-2018) and John Landy (1930-2022). It captures the moment when Landy, who was in the lead, glanced over his left shoulder to check on Bannister just as Bannister streaked past him on the right and won the race. Years later Landy joked, "Lot’s wife was turned into a pillar of salt for looking back. I'm probably the only one ever turned into bronze for looking back.”
Just as looking back hindered John Landy from being a winner, looking back at our past mistakes and misfortunes can also hinder us from becoming a winner. Therefore "let us lay aside everything... which doth so easily beset us, and... run… life's race... looking unto Jesus"
(Heb 12:1,2), not looking back. For it is "through our Lord Jesus Christ that God giveth us the victory" (1Cor 15:57 Paraphrased).
