Thus saith the Lord... I have graven thee upon the palms of My hands

     On December 14th, 1972, astronaut Eugene Cernan, (1934-2017), commander of NASA's Apollo 17 lunar landing mission, became the "last man on the moon". Two weeks earlier, on December 7th, he and fellow astronauts, Ronald Evans (1933-1990) and Harrison Schmitt (b: 1935) set off towards the moon. On the 11th, Cernan and Schmitt arrived on the lunar surface. After 75 hours of scientific research, it was time to head back to Earth. Before boarding the Lunar Module, Cernan dropped to one knee and carved the letters “TDC” in the dust. They were the initials of his 9 year old daughter, Tracy, to whom he had promised to write her initials on the moon's surface.
     Just as Eugene Cernan fulfilled his promise to carve his daughter's initials on the moon, your Heavenly Father has fulfilled His promise to carve your name on the palms of His hands, where He can see it and always be reminded of you. He has declared, "thou shalt not be forgotten of Me" (Isa 44:21). "A woman may forget her child, but I will not forget thee" (Isa 49:15 paraphrased).
